The Blackmore Drain Improvement Project addressed road flooding issues and set up stormwater management to protect the environment and encourage economic growth within the City of Battle Creek, Michigan. Innovative design and intergovernmental cooperation resulted in a drainage project that addressed current flooding issues and future growth. It minimized future development costs by providing stormwater management for multiple commercial properties. Several infiltration basins decreased the peak flow and volume to the Kalamazoo River. This helped with downstream flooding and water quality.
